I guess I better post this before I get hit again. I have had 2 hits on my blog the past week! :)
Thanks to Lee and Carol B for tagging my blog.

Split Pea

I ordered the green fabric in the center off an internet clearance. Wasn't thrilled when it arrived. Imagine how happy I was yesterday when I was looking for a binding/inner border and saw Split Pea. The dot fabric is the outer border and the fabric on the right is the backing. I was able to get the quilt assembled and off to the quilter to quilt the layers. The top is below.
I cannot wait to mail this one off and surprise my friend. No cross stitch this past week but next week is camp!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Pam

Weekend Free!

This weekend has been a "free for me" event. DH took a man trip on his Harley with a buddy to New Orleans and Grand Isle. DS is 15 and began Spring Break, he has been home but has no interest in hanging with mom at this point. They are off to the opening day of 6-flags ATL this morning. He has spent the last 2 weeks talking me into this. There is one parent type with 4-5 teens, I just don't know the parent so that usually means a veto in our house but I am trying to release him into world a bit more so I yielded to him going.  Friday night I was able to sew up the blocks for the above quilt. The photo is where I was laying out the block on our bed. I do need to get one of those design walls in my guest room if I ever move from the dining room table to the quest room with my quilting. I think I will like the design wall much better than the design floor or bed. There are 10 panels with verses from the Beatitudes stitched into them. Here is where I went south(actually north) I got this far and decided it was time to visit a country quilt shop I had found on the internet about 30 minutes up the road. It is in a Victorian house. How much more wonderful could you get? So off on my journey I went Saturday morning. The house was lovely with spring gardens beginning to bloom. Only 3 rooms of fabric and a fourth room filled with a long arm machine. She is very reasonable and I plan to use the services. The fabrics were lovely, tons of moda and rooms arranged by color pallets. It was a bit cluttered with fabrics everywhere but just what you would expect in a lovely old place. The owner was very gracious and helpful. She gave me the 10% guild discount even though I am not in a guild yet. I think it would be better to visit during the week when she is less busy. There were 4 sets of customers in there and she was a bit rushed. So I have the backing fabric for this jewel and cannot wait for another free Friday night. Not sure why I like machine work on Friday nights after a long week at work, taking my hostilities out on the machine that cannot talk back I suspect.

I have and exchange piece to pop in the mail this week and then back to DT the Riddle. I did manage to squeeze in a few stitches on it while I was getting a Pedi yesterday afternoon. They say no one has ever brought in stitching to a pedicure before and always seem amazed I stitch while they work on my feet. What could be more relaxing? The lighting is great and you can just about get a total body massage between the chair and the foot/leg massage that they do with the pedi. DH has already called to let me know he is on the way to crash my all about me weekend to an end. Now I'll need to get the house in recovery mode from sewing and needlework before he returns.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday and thanks for stopping by for a visit,
Pam

Bounty of Beads

I don't go into Dollar Tree much so imagine my surprise when I found boxes of beads for $1 each. Perfect little mix for a crafter. They had 6 boxes with various color palettes. I got the pink set and blue set. 6 colors/styles in each box. I wanted the larger ones for a ribbon project the other day and they were hiding at Dollar Tree the whole time. Some place new to find stash, just what we all needed. At least it is the right price.
Managed to finish Spring Swirly last night. A fun little piece, linen is not as pink as it is showing here. Thank goodness for DST. Hopeful I can get some better color quality photos when I get home from work and it is still light out. The ott lite seems to turn things. (see above piece) What should I start tonight?.....

Thanks for dropping by,
Pam

Stash Alert!

Yesterday I rewarded myself for getting through a full work week after working rather diligently on moving my mom's stuff for four days the week before plus working that week. It was too many days in a row without rest for this old girl. Not to mention too many days without stitching. So off I went on the just over an hour drive to the not-so LNS in my life. I was able to pick up all the threads for WTNT bunny and co and peter and peep. I want to take them to camp in a few weeks.(Are we there yet?)
I also picked up a wonderful pair of Bohin scissors from the shop. The have all the right colors to match the acorn fob sent to me by Teresa a few weeks back in my stitching pocket. I am not sure if the photo shows them off properly but the are lovely. The have the same copper, brass and silver tones as the fob.The perfect fall scissors I say!
Picked up a few more charts and stitched the day away. What more could a stitcher as for? I was able to complete the little exchange piece I have been working on and also got a few more stitches in on the HIH  Swirly Spring piece I have wanted to do forever. It is small and you would think I would finish it off but I have been so tired this week not much stitching at night after work. We are headed to the lake after church. I couple more weekends settling everything in and we should be able to enjoy the place for the summer. The shop owner said yesterday all you have done this year is move. We bought a new house in May and moved. My mom, got the lake place in Dec and now we are selling her place and moving her between our house and the lake house. Lots of moving indeed. More stitch/stash therapy may be in order to recover from it all! :)

Happy Sunday and thanks for stopping by,
Pam

Is it just me?

Or does it seem that no one knows how and when to surprise you like another stitcher? Let me digress, for the last few days I have been helping my mother prepare her house to sell. She has been in the house for about 35 years. I am not sure she has done any real purge of the house in all that time. This might be not such a big deal but the woman loves to shop like you and I love to stitch..... now you are getting the picture.I would share photos but I am numb from it all. So we have been going round and round the trash can for several days. One absolutely must keep item was a rugrats tin. I though she was going to burst into tears when I suggested donating to charity so it is securely tucked in my basement with the other half of her house and leaving me to wonder how I will assimilate it into my household. We have been slowly relocating her over the last 6 months in an effort to merge our households since my father passed away. She bought a small lake house and will share the space in our home and it. Sounds great on paper but the reality has been much less. They never warn you that about the time your kids are getting ready to depart your parents will be landing.

On a positive note I have found some vintage stitching from the early 80's that I find just a bit frightening on several levels. And how about this jewel that was tucked deep in a closet...
Amazing how your taste and style changes over the years. Thank goodness....

Anyway, when I got home with my car scraping the roads from the weight of my moms household I found the first picture sent from April  the new chart from WTNT. Peter and Peep. April stitched the model and I have been ogling the chart to go with the one from last year already in my stash. So many thanks to April for the little pick me up that came at just the right time.No one really knows what will help like another stitcher or know when you are in a small crisis without ever being told.
